Classes

Warm-Up
An energetic, fun start to the day that includes cardio work, stretching and conditioning.

Functional Ballet
An emphasis on how ballet can work for any body type and offers valuable tools that can be applied to work in other genres of dance as well.

Jazz
Energetic movements set to upbeat music with an emphasis on dynamics and musicality.

Lyrical
A focus on storytelling and how to express emotion in a real, compelling way.

Hip Hop
Inspired by Hip Hop culture, explores isolations in the body with a focus on grounded-ness.

Modern
A 'formless' dance style that emphasizes weight, release, contraction and suspension.

Tap
A focus on how to engage the whole body while creating precise rhythms with tap shoes.

Improvisation
Creating dance in the moment of performance without prior rehearsal, emphasis on how to unleash the physical imagination.

Ballroom (Junior and Inter/Senior Only)
The basics of the social versions of the Merengue, Swing and American Tango.

Site-Specific Improvisation Field Trip (Junior and Inter/SeniorOnly)
After learning several improvisational tools, dancers will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a different setting (a street sidewalk, or a park for example). How does a different setting change the way you dance? How can you maintain performance focus in an umfamiliar environment? More details TBA.

Seminars

Over the week, dancers will have the opportunity to attend four FRESH Seminars- 30 minute discussions on the topics below. Guest speakers (TBA) will briefly share their stories which will be followed by a Q&A session. Dancers are encouraged to prepare their questions and may eat their lunch during the discussions.

 

MONDAY: Working Professionally

What is it like to work professionally? How do I find an agent? What are some helpful audition tips?

 

WEDNESDAY: Healthy Dancing and Injury Prevention

What is an efficient warm-up? How can I help prevent injuries? What is a healthy diet for a dancer?

 

THURSDAY: What Competition Judges Want

What are judges looking for at competitions? What is it like to be a judge? How are dances scored?

 

FRIDAY: Faculty Showing and Q&A

What inspires a young choreographer? Where did you train? What advice do you have for young dancers?

STEP 1) Click here to fill out the Online Form. After clicking the 'submit' button, you will be directed to our Online Payment System.

STEP 2) Click here to visit our Online Payment System to make a $60.00 NON REFUNDABLE Registration Deposit through PayPal. You must make this deposit to secure a spot at the Workshop (with the exception of full scholarship dancers).

STEP 3) We will send you a confirmation e-mail after your information has been received and processed. Your tuition fee balance will be indicated in the confirmation e-mail. This amount is due (along with your scholarship certificate, if you have one) on the first day of the Workshop at the sign-in table in CASH or CHEQUE (payable to FRESH Dance Intensive). Attached to the confirmation e-mail will be a PDF Waiver Form that must be printed, signed and submitted at the sign-in table on the first day of the Workshop as well.
